Welcome back.
Two doors, one program. Behind the first door is your health: a daily check-in, sleep, movement, food and the research behind each. Behind the second is your business: AI skills you can use this week, the G.A.I.N.S. certification, and a path to a company that remembers what it learns. Pick a door, or move between them any time.
Your health entries never appear on the Business side, and Business entries never appear on the Health side.

Health & Wellness
This is the research foundation EPX3 is built on. Every protocol in this portal traces back to one overlooked variable: it isn't how much sedentary exposure you accumulate — it's whether that exposure is ever interrupted.
Why interruption, not total exposure, is the variable that matters
For twenty years, workplace wellness measured the wrong number. Large cohort studies link more daily sitting to a higher risk of death and heart disease, and short-term trials show that breaking up sitting, even briefly, improves blood sugar and blood pressure. These are associations and short trials. They do not prove what will happen for any one person.
In UK Biobank accelerometer data (about 90,000 adults), the risk of heart failure and cardiovascular death rose once sitting passed roughly 10.6 hours a day, with about 45% higher heart failure risk at that level (Ajufo et al., JACC, 2025). This is why EPX3 builds the program around breaking up sitting about every 30 minutes. See The Research page for each study and its limits.
Inflammation: the mechanism behind almost everything else
Chronic low-grade inflammation is the biological thread connecting sedentary behavior, poor sleep, processed diets, and long-term disease risk. It's also one of the few mechanisms you can meaningfully influence in weeks, not years.
Lower inflammation shows up downstream as less joint pain, better mood stability, more consistent energy, and — over the long run — lower risk for the chronic diseases driving the bulk of the nation's $5.3 trillion in annual healthcare costs (CDC). This is the throughline across every tab in this portal: movement, sleep, and nutrition aren't separate wellness checkboxes, they're three levers on the same inflammatory system.
Chronic disease costs are a workforce problem, not just a personal one
Poor health costs employers through absence and through presenteeism, which is reduced performance while still on the clock and is invisible on a timesheet. The best large trials of workplace wellness programs have not shown savings, so EPX3 does not promise them. We measure what changes at 13 weeks and report it, including when little changes.
What this means for you, specifically
Use the Sleep, Exercise, Nutrition, and Diary tabs to build a real record of your own pattern. A single doctor's visit gives a snapshot; sixty seconds a day here builds a trendline — and the trendline is what actually predicts whether the interruption is working.
Sleep
Sleep is the highest-leverage recovery lever available, and it's the one most consistently disrupted by screen-heavy days.
Why sleep is not a separate issue from your screen time
Nightly screen routines — checking a device before bed, notifications interrupting the wind-down window — are directly tied to worse sleep-quality scores in controlled research.
Poor sleep doesn't just cause fatigue the next day — it compounds every other lever in this portal. Sleep-deprived decision-making tends toward less movement, worse food choices, and lower tolerance for stress, which is why EPX3 treats a consistent sleep window as foundational rather than optional.
The highest-leverage change
Set a specific screen curfew before bed. A phone-free wind-down is tied to measurably better sleep-quality scores in survey data, and turning off non-essential notifications directly reduces the compulsive-checking behavior ("nomophobia") that's now a validated, measurable psychological construct in its own right.
Recent Sleep Logs
Exercise
The dose-response research on movement is clear — and the effective dose is smaller than most people assume.
What the research actually says about "how much"
The WHO's global guideline calls for 150-300 minutes/week of moderate aerobic activity (or 75-150 minutes vigorous), plus resistance training for all major muscle groups on 2 or more days/week.
In other words: the highest-leverage move for most desk-based employees isn't a longer gym session, it's a short resistance-training habit plus regularly breaking up sitting — not an all-or-nothing fitness commitment.
Why interrupting sitting matters as much as the workout itself
In short-term randomized crossover trials, breaking up sitting about every 30 minutes improved blood glucose control compared with sitting without breaks.

Nutrition
Snap or upload a photo of your meal for an instant estimate, and log it to build your own pattern over time.
Why nutrition is an inflammation lever, not just a calorie one
Anti-inflammatory eating patterns show measurable effects on the same inflammatory markers tied to chronic pain, joint stiffness, and long-term disease risk covered on the Health & Wellness tab.
Separately, a systematic review of anti-inflammatory diets for rheumatoid arthritis pain found real signal for pain reduction, though the certainty of evidence was rated very low — worth knowing so this portal never oversells what diet alone can fix.Schönenberger et al., Nutrients, 2021

Recover & Align
Energy has four parts: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. This tab gives you one small practice for each. Spend effort, then recover. Do it daily, and keep it small enough that you actually do it.
1. Slow breathing (3 minutes)
Breathe in for 5 seconds and out for 5 seconds, about 6 breaths a minute. Sit comfortably and follow the circle. If you feel dizzy or uncomfortable, stop and breathe normally.
2. One ritual for each energy
Choose one specific thing for each energy, with a time or trigger. Example: "After lunch, walk 10 minutes." Tick each one off on the days you do it.

3. Purpose and values
Here, "spiritual" means purpose and meaning, not a particular religion. Answer in a sentence or two. Come back and revise it whenever it changes.
Privacy: your rituals, answers, and check-offs are saved only in this browser on this device. They are not sent to EPX3 or to your employer. On a shared computer, use the button below when you finish.
The Capital Gains Institute · CGI Business
Build a company that trains like an athlete.
Elite athletes win on training, recovery, measurement and a coach who knows their game film. Most companies have none of the four. CGI builds them for the small and mid-sized businesses that run America, and this is where your EPX3 energy turns into business skill.
The recursive brain, behind your company's gains.
The Company Athlete: four habits
The "corporate athlete" idea, described by Jim Loehr and Tony Schwartz in Harvard Business Review in 2001, applies the training discipline and recovery science of elite sport to people at work. CGI takes it one step further, from the person to the whole company. A Company Athlete is a business that trains deliberately, rests on purpose, measures honestly and remembers everything it learns.
Certify the people.
The G.A.I.N.S. certification gives every person a shared, verifiable standard for using AI at work.
Take work off them.
AI agents carry the routine load so people keep their energy for judgment and relationships.
Track real outcomes.
Not impressions. You log each AI Win here, and your company sees group totals only.
Keep the playbook.
What you learn goes into a private company brain, so knowledge stays when people move on.
Your path from EPX3 to a smarter company
- Days 1 to 90: the EPX3 program. Four layers, measured at the start and at day 90. Layer 3 (Mental) includes one AI shortcut a week.

Grants & Funding
Florida’s Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) grant reimburses eligible employers for approved training. CareerSource decides eligibility, the amount and the timing. CGI helps you prepare the paperwork. CGI does not promise approval.
Not being eligible for IWT does not stop anyone from taking G.A.I.N.S. at full price.
The facts, in plain words
$25,000 per program year
The program year runs July 1 to June 30. The limit is per trainee as well: up to $3,500 each.
At least 10%
Larger companies pay more: at least 10%, 25% or 50% depending on company size.
30+ business days ahead
CareerSource Tampa Bay asks employers to apply at least 30 business days, about six weeks, before training starts.
Incumbent Worker Training, step by step
- Screen your organization. Read the “not eligible” list above. If you are not sure, ask CareerSource Tampa Bay before you spend time on paperwork.
- Confirm the training fits. IWT pays for skills training that helps an existing employee advance. It does not pay for soft skills, new-hire orientation, CPR, OSHA or degree programs.
- Pick your people and your dates. Training must start and finish inside the program year, which ends June 30, 2027.
- Get a written quote from CGI. It separates the training from exam preparation and exam fees, which CareerSource does not reimburse.
- Gather each employee’s paperwork. Application, release and consent form, grievance form, Form I-9, the most recent W-2, and Selective Service registration if it applies.
- Submit the employer application online at least 30 business days before your start date. Applying does not guarantee approval.
- Wait for pre-approval, then sign the contract. Do not enroll, pay or start training until the contract is fully signed.
- Complete the training and keep records. Keep every invoice, proof of payment and attendance record.
- Request reimbursement and share results. CGI helps assemble the documents and asks each certified company for a short five-metric results form.
Application questions go to CareerSource Tampa Bay at employerinfo@careersourcetb.com or 813-930-7827. Questions about G.A.I.N.S.: drmike@myjetmedical.com · 863.860.7725. The Capital Gains Institute · Research brief
AI at Work: judgment, not just adoption
The new divide in companies is between people who run AI with good judgment and people who avoid it or use it without checking. Here is what the research says, including the parts that do not flatter AI.
The baseline is moving
of existing skills
Expected to be transformed or become outdated between 2025 and 2030 (World Economic Forum).
call their company mature
Almost every company invests in AI. Only 1% of leaders say it is fully built into their workflows (McKinsey, 2025).
net new jobs by 2030
After jobs lost and jobs gained, worldwide (World Economic Forum, 2025).
What speed buys, and what it does not
issues resolved per hour
5,179 customer-support agents using an AI assistant. About +34% for the least experienced (Brynjolfsson, Li and Raymond).
correct answers outside the tool’s strengths
758 consultants. On a task AI handles badly, AI users were 19 points less likely to be right (Dell’Acqua and colleagues).
employment drop, ages 22 to 25
Relative decline in the most AI-exposed jobs (Stanford Digital Economy Lab, 2025). The hard news is real.
Four judgment calls that matter
- When to automate. A task that repeats the same way every time.
- When to verify. Check the machine’s answer before anyone relies on it.
- When to keep a person in the loop. Any decision that affects someone.
- When your data must never go in. Customer records, passwords, health details and anything your company calls private.
